U.S. State & Local Sites BioEnergy Producers Association The mission of the BioEnergy Producers Association is to advance the development and commercialization of sustainable, environmentally preferable industries that produce power, fuels, and chemicals from biomass and plastic wastes. California Energy Commission This Web site has information—some specific to California and some general—on renewable energy, energy efficiency, utility restructuring, fossil fuels, climate change, consumer tips, and much more. California Institute for Energy Efficiency The CIEE Web site discusses its statewide program to develop technologies that advance and use energy efficiency in California. Center for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Technologies CEERT provides technical support to environmental advocates and clean technology developers in the western United States. Clean Energy States Alliance The Clean Energy States Alliance is a 12-state coalition of clean energy funds that develops and promotes clean energy technologies and creates and expands markets for these technologies. Coalition for New Energy Technologies This Web site features information about the Coalition's activities in Arizona and Colorado. The Coalition promotes its members and their innovative energy technologies through outreach programs, policy advocacy, and various other activities. This site provides state-by-state information on Green Power Marketing in Competitive Electricity Markets and Utility Green Pricing Programs. In addition, the site lists marketers of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs)(also known as green tags or tradable renewable certificates), which represent the environmental attributes of the power produced from a renewable energy project. Whether or not consumers have access to green power through their local utility or a competitive electricity marketer, consumers can purchase RECs without having to switch electricity suppliers.
